A Grace Filled Afternoon of Prayer

in honour of

The Immaculate Conception

of Our Lady

Sunday 10th December, 2023

The Angels rejoiced when Our Lady was conceived in the womb of Her Mother Saint Anne.   If the heaven’s rejoice how delighted   we should be and what a sense of wonder, joy, and gratitude we should have on this great occasion. Saint Anne and Saint Joaquim  were truly holy people chosen by God to be the parents of Our Lady.

Our Lady is the glory of God, the most splendid work of His creation.  She gives more honour to the Holy Trinity, and is more powerful in heaven than all the other saints and angels put together. The source of this power is love.  She is filled with an incredible love of God.  God is love.  Our Lady is incredibly filled with the presence of God.  If we were to think of all the great and good works of holy men and women throughout  the ages they pale in comparison to what God

has done, and continues to do through Mary.

He will do great things in us as well if we unite ourselves to Our Blessed Mother.  How pleased God is too, when we honour the Mother of Our Lord.  God will never forget any act we do in honour of Our Lady, so please come on this day and be blessed.  Be an apostle of Mary and encourage others too to share in the grace of this afternoon of prayers.

The relic will be available for your personal veneration. You can ask this great saint to intercede for you  in your needs and for your family.  This  is our opportunity to bring our families; yes, the very young, the elderly and everyone in between are all encouraged to participate. Please spread the word amongst parishes your family members and your friends, to honour our loving Mother who leads us always to a deeper and more beautiful love of God. This day is certainly one not to be missed.

End of Year Afternoon Tea

At the conclusion of the afternoon of prayer there will be a light afternoon tea.  Ladies are encouraged to bring a plate, the men, something to drink.

St Catherine Labouré  is very much connected with this wonderful Feast.  Our Lady, through St Catherine, gave the world in 1830 the Miraculous Medal.  The medal on the front side features the image of the Immaculate Conception and  it contains the prayer that refers to the Immaculate Conception, “O Mary Conceived Without Sin, Pray for Us Who Have Recourse to Thee.”   This medal became known as the Miraculous Medal because of all the miracles and favours that started to occur through the wearing of the medal.  We are particularly blessed to have this first class relic of this great Saint, St Catherine  Labour present for the Immaculate Conception Feast this year.
